After successfully completing his study of garden and landscape architecture, Bart Hoes embarked on what is now a 25-year career as garden architect and landscape architect. The first ten years, when he worked for the municipality of Velsen, formed a strong foundation for his career. In 1995 he started his own bureau, currently located in Heemstede. Bart has written two books on gardens and garden architecture and is also an official member of the Belgian Federation of Garden Architecture and Landscape Architecture (Vereniging van Tuinarchitecten en Landschapsarchitecten B.V.T.L.).
His portfolio is very diverse, partly due to the fact that each client and situation is different. But the one characteristic that always remains consistent is a clear use of shapes and clean lines. Bart Hoes designs not only gardens, but also parks, terrains, and urban environments. Plants provide the natural factor in an outdoor environment. A thorough knowledge of plants is crucial. His love for nature, for trees and all other plant elements, makes it easy for him to keep up his knowledge on this front.
Bart is currently running his own bureau as a one-man business. One reason, Bart says, is that direct communication between client and designer results in the best quality outcome. A network of freelancers and specialists, for example in the areas of digital presentation, construction, civil and green (RAW) specifications, as well as nurseries and executive companies, are consulted and involved in projects where appropriate.
