Vision
Designing with emotion and vision

My vision is a quest for the balance between beauty and functionality, between living and experiencing. A cleverly designed garden must be interesting all year round. Elements such as water and plants are very important. Water brings coolness, reflection and movement as well as peacefulness. Plants reinforce the design. Some times playful, colourful and lush and at other times strong, sober and robust.

Lines and spaces reinforcing each other

The rhythm and proportions of the house or building form the point of departure for the design. This will provide points to connect the house and garden with each other. Lines and planes that work together will emphasise the spatial relationships and make the garden look larger than it really is. A space in which you feel happy and that invites you to live in the outdoor environment.

Separate ingredients combine into a tasty dish

Again and again, the lessons you learn and the things you experience, see and feel have an effect on your opinions and thoughts of the moment. Ideas and moods are therefore – fortunately – always subject to change. By experimenting with certain knowledge, and applying it in new ways of thinking, you learn to work with the ‘space’ dimension even better.

Attention to detail, colour and use of quality materials

Within the space to be designed, the challenge lies in finding creative solutions to combine the functional and the beautiful. In our gardens we want nature to do as we please. But we must not lose sight of where we live. Exotic elements need to be surprising and enchanting, not alienating.
